Soldier Field
Soldier Field, the site of a multi-purpose sports arena, first had a 1/4 mile
dirt oval installed in 1935. Over the next 33 years, at various times it
featured board and paved ovals of 3/8 and 1/2 miles, and hosted races for
midgets and stock cars. Racing was halted when the Chicago Bears football
team relocated to the field, as the race track was removed to allow for
additional seating.
