Designed by Hermann Tilke, this 3.39 mile track is shaped in the shape of the Chinese character "shang". Construction started on 17 October 2002 in a ceremony attended by Max Mosley and Bernie Ecclestone, with the Chinese Grand Prix due to be held in 2004.
