Rommehed

Rommehed, near Borlange, approx 200 km North-west of Stockholm was a track
made of sand and ice. The firebrigade put on water, lorries put on sand - and
they did so every day for two weeks. The track was used for the 1947 Swedish
Winter Grand Prix. Winner was Reg Parnell in a ERA. Race day was 29 degrees
below zero but 50 000 spectators turned up. Track length was 5000m.
