Jungle Park Speedway

A roughly circular part dirt, part paved and partially banked 1/2 mile circuit built by Earl Padgett 1925-26 (the first race was held on the 4th July 1926) at Turkey Run alongside US41, 9 miles north of Rockville. A 1/4 mile dirt oval for midgets was added in the 1940s. Racing continued until 1963, when a spectator was killed by an out of control car, the lack of fencing showing itself up.
