Gateway International Raceway is a road course built over the old St. Louis International Raceway. There are minor elavation changes as the track is mainly flat. The old SLIR had the nickname from its drag racing days of "The Swamp" so be advised to paddock in high ground if it rains.

Gateway was purchased by Chris Pook, famous as the promotor of the Long Beach Grand Prix, around 1997. Pook built a 1.27 mile oval on the site, reconfigured the road course, and added a new drag strip. However the track was closed in November 2010, as it could generate a sufficient profit.
