Based on an airfield, Gardemoen was first used in September 1946 and was 7000m
long. A motorcycle meeting was held on the 28th September 1947, and a second
car meeting on the 28th August 1949. During this meeting, Swedish F3 driver Sture
Selander crashed, killing the driver and two spectators. The track was later
used as a drag strip.
